R.BALKI – MUMBAI
Ad man turned filmmaker, R. Balki is a director, screenwriter, and producer who rose to fame with his maiden directorial venture Cheeni Kum. Former Group Chairman of one of the most popular and biggest advertising agencies in India, Lowe Lintas, R. Balki started his career with Mudra at the age of 23. During his advertising career, he developed revolutionary and super hit campaigns for several renowned brands like ‘Daag Achche Hain’ for Surf Excel and ‘Walk When You Talk’ for the Idea Cellular network.
His passion however has always been filmmaking and in 2009 he made Paa, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits of his career. His other notable directorial ventures include Dear Zindagi and Pad Man.
SRINI SRINIVASAN – PALO ALTO
CEO of LUMIUM, a creative product design company based in Palo Alto, California, Srini Srinivasan is very passionate about product design and usability. He has a technology and business background in instrumentation, consumer electronics, telecom and wireless equipment.
Srinivasan served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the World Design Organization from 2015 to 2017, and was named President-elect for the 2017 to 2019 term. He served on the panel of innovation judges for CES 2012 and other industry events and has run non-profit programs. Srinivasan attended an executive education program at Haas Business School, UC Berkeley.
ALOK NANDI – BRUSSELS
Alok Nandi is founder and creative director of Architempo, UX strategist, interaction designer; president of IxDA – Interaction Design Association (2018-2020).
Leading design teams of publishing companies in Belgium and France (Casterman, the publisher of a.o. Tintin; groupe Flammarion), he got involved in R&D programs to explore storytelling with technologies, AR & VR installations for museums and public places. In 2004, he founded Architempo to explore the multiple dimensions of design: from interaction design to exhibitions (red dot design museum, St-Etienne Design Biennale), strategic design and innovation, interventions and conferences (chair of Interaction14 in Amsterdam). In 2007, he launched PechaKucha Night in Brussels.
He is a regular speaker in international conferences and frequent jury member (in design, new media, cinema and start ups), and is professor at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, working on innovation by design with hospitality/culinary professionals.
KIGGE HVID – COPENHAGEN
Kigge Hvid is a leading global voice advocating sustainable design globally. She founded INDEX: Award – the world’s biggest design award – in 2001 in Denmark.
Kigge carries three hon. doctorates in design, awarded for her unique role in international design, she is a member of the Danish governments Distruption Council – Partnership for the Future of Denmark and the recipient of The Design Leadership Award. In 2018 Kigge co-founded JA, a Danish design studio specializing in botanic design.
JA was founded because Kigge firmly believes that it is utterly important for people to understand and take care of plant, and that if so, plants will be the driver of innovation in the coming decade.
Dr.ELIZABETH TUNSTALL – ONTARIO
RIKKE HANSEN – KOLDING
A graphic designer and educator from Denmark, Rikke Hansen works and teaches in a field at the intersection of language, culture and space. She has a passion for graphic design and typography. For several years she has been working with product development, branding and consulting for companies and organizations. As Head of Department at Design School Kolding she played a significant role in developing new educational programs for the future. She has also been Head of Designhoejskolen Hoejer – a new independent design high school focusing on talent development. Currently she is an external Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, and also teaches a variety of design courses at different design schools. She works on and researches design development projects and has her own design studio doing print and digital design.
Rikke has been a juror at the 14th BICM, International Mexico Poster Biennial. She has been exhibiting and giving lectures and workshops across the globe.
KIEU HUYEN PHAM – HANOI
An award-winning graduate of the Graphic Faculty, Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts,Pham Huyen Kieu founded Haki Group in 1994; the Group’s activities cover branding, advertising and craft. Kieu has worked on hundreds of research projects, and created and managed brand development work across economic, social and public services, including the SEA Games 22.
After 18 years of direct management, Kieu is now a member of the Boards of Directors, Haki Group and Chief Consultant for the Haki Brand, spending more time on professional endeavors in general, and design in particular. He is also a strategic advisor for a number of businesses in the field of building materials, real estate services, manufacturing and distribution of consumer goods.
ADIL JAL DARUKHANAWALA – PUNE
ABHIJIT BANSOD – BENGALURU
A postgraduate from the National Institute of Design, Abhijit Bansod has long been part of the new age design movement in India. After a decade with Titan Design Studio, he founded ‘Studio ABD’ in 2008 to create an open platform to discover new facets of contemporary Indian Design.
Abhijit believes in celebrating creativity that combines fragments of Indian tradition with cutting-edge technology, and fuses cultural motifs with new age thinking – this conjures up sophisticated products that resonate with India’s rich past and speak a unique language – an Indian design vocabulary.
He has many awards to his credit, including Top Outstanding Designer, Top Innovation Award,China, 2018; India’s Best Design Studio, 2017 – Industrial Design and Packaging Design; Young Creative Entrepreneur 2011 by British Council; and Red Dot Design Award 2010. His design journey has been featured in many national and international publications. Abhijit has been a Jury Member for Cannes Lions Design, 2012; India Design Mark 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016; and Fakestival 2014.
VIKAS SATWALEKAR – MUMBAI
Currently working as a Design Consultant, Prof. Vikas Satwalekar has nurtured and mentored design education over the years as Executive Director of NID and Head of its Visual Communication program.
Prof. Satwalekar has also worked on prestigious exhibition design projects, such as Khalsa Heritage Museum, and conceiving and designing ‘Bharat Ek Darshan’, ‘India Exhibit’, Commonwealth Institute, London.
As a graphic designer, he has created corporate identity programs for Mother Dairy, National Dairy Development Board, four regional identities for Channel Tara, Bradcast Worldwide Pvt.Ltd, Doordarshan Channel identities, and others.
In 2007, Prof. Vikas Satwalekar was presented with a Grandmaster Commendation at the Icograda Design Week in India Conference, IIT Bombay.
NANDITA ABRAHAM – DELHI
President of Pearl Academy, Nandita Abraham has over 25 years of experience across corporates and academia in the US, Hong Kong and India. Since joining Pearl Academy in 2001 as a faculty member, she has held various positions including Head of the Corporate Relations & Marketing departments (Mumbai campus) and Executive Vice President. Nandita recently spearheaded the path breaking Pearl Academy – Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) collaboration, which sets a new benchmark for industry-academia partnership.
Nandita is on the Executive Committee, IFFTI – International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes, and the FICCI Higher Education Committee. She has been a member of the CII National Committee of Design, a member of the Research, Education and Industry Committees at IFFTI, and has presented her research on pedagogy, employability and international collaboration in several countries. She has been invited to give lectures at University of Delaware, US; London College of Fashion, UK; and Philadelphia University, US.

SHRIKANT NIVASARKAR – PUNE
Head architect at Nivasarkar Consultants, a Pune-based design consulting firm founded in 1978, Shrikant Nivasarkar is an internationally acclaimed designer. He is a member of a number of different education and trade associations, including the Governing Council of the National Institute of Design, and the Consultative Committee of WIDC 2016, an industrial design conference in China.
Shrikant was the first Indian president of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Design, and is a member of the India Design Council, and president of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers. He also teaches at different universities.
HRRIDAYSH DESHPANDE – PUNE
An education entrepreneur, Hrridaysh Deshpande has been responsible for the establishment, overall strategy, implementation and running a variety of educational institutes. He is currently a member of the Governing Body and Director of Ajeenkya DY Patil University.
Hrridaysh is consultant advisor to the India Design Council, under whose aegis he spearheads the India Design Mark program in cooperation with Good Design Award, Japan. He has served on the jury of the Good Design Awards, Japan in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. He has also been jury member for the world’s largest student design competition – Taiwan International Student Design Competition in 2015 and 2017.
Author of India Design Reports published in 2009, 2011 and 2014, Hrridaysh has been curating the CII NID Design Summit since 2010. In the year 2011, he helped CII initiate the CII Design Excellence Awards and the CII Industrial Innovation Awards in 2014.
SAURABH SINGH – MUSCAT
G V SREEKUMAR – MUMBAI
Professor and Head of IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, Prof. G. V. Sreekumar’s areas of specialisation are typography, calligraphy, publication design, information design, anatomy and figure drawing and design pedagogy. He created a new field called H-H-I – Human Human Interaction, which focuses on the human-centric aspects of design and everyday life.
Prof. Sreekumar studied Applied Art at M.S. University, Baroda, and Visual Communication at IDC, IIT Bombay. Prior to joining IIT Bombay as a faculty member in the year 2000 he worked as an art director, cartoonist, calligrapher, illustrator and infographics designer.
He acts as design consultant for many publications including the popular computer magazine CHIP, Intelligent Investor, The Times of India Group, Indian Express and Jasubhai Digital Media.
He is a visiting faculty member at several institutes including the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University, Vadodara; National Institute of Design (NID); MIT Pune; IIIT Jabalpur; and IIT Guwahati. He is also a member of the Text Book Committee, NCERT, Government of India.
SUDHIR SHARMA – PUNE
Founder of Indi Design, Sudhir Sharma has over 24 years of experience in the design industry and has been involved in the successful and award-winning transformation of many household brands in India. He is also Founder and President of ‘Design India’, India’s largest social community of professional designers; and Chief Editor of POOL Magazine (for Design,Innovation and Art).
An alumnus of the World Economic Forum’s World Design Council, Sudhir was on the inaugural design jury at the 2008 Cannes Lions Festival, and has served as jury member at Adfest 2009, Dutch Design Awards 2011 and 2012, and Design Turkey. A graduate of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, he holds a number of board positions for both commercial and educational organizations. He was selected for the ‘Most Promising Entrepreneur of the Year 2009’ award for his contribution to India’s design industry.

SONIA MANCHANDA – BENGALURU
Co-founder of SPREAD Design + Learning, a new age design firm that seamlessly integrates all disciplines of design with technology and media, Sonia Manchanda designs ground up strategies for massive scale and impact. Her most satisfying and significant achievement is The Dream:in Project, an open innovation and design research project that re-imagines the role design can play, especially in emerging economies. She was subsequently selected one of six ‘Gamechangers’ by Metropolis Magazine, USA.
Sonia has been Design Thinker and Lead Designer for big businesses, brands and experiences in retail, hospitality and healthcare. She was the Design Director for the Design and Look of the 19th Commonwealth Games, Delhi 2010; and for the brands Future Group, Manipal, Cochin International Airport and most of the brands, culture and experiences associated with Future Group.
