INDIA’S BEST DESIGN PROJECT 2019
Project Introduction:
The Bidri craft is a traditonal metal craft of Bidar, Karnataka. The metal used is an alloy of zinc and copper inlaid with thin sheets of pure silver. Silver wire is pressed into the engraved designs and then buffed for the lustre. BOONDEIN, or droplets of water, was conceptualised and developed to highlight and address the issue of water conservation, thanks to the number of lakes being killed in Bangalore.
The collection uses a mix of copper and brass inlay in addition to the traditional silver inlay. The four pieces in this collection are, moonlit, lightning, ripples and waves.
