INDIA’S BEST DESIGN STUDIO 2020
Spatial Design Studio
Project Introduction:
A 10-year-old design group from Mumbai, Baaya Design takes its name from the Baya Weaver or Indian weaverbird, whose nest is seen as a fine example of workmanship and functionality. The group uses design intervention and artisan skills to craft installations for homes, offices, restaurants and hotels. Baaya believes that native arts and crafts can be effectively used to tell stories in today’s world. The group engages with rural artisans to explore new interpretations of their skills and make them relevant to today’s lifestyles, thus enabling the preservation of our country’s age-old craft production techniques.
