Without doubt, India needs to go forward with bio-safe agricultural practices, but the farmers need to be helped to make them sustainable. Over the years, cotton farmers have started shifting from their traditional cultivation methods to the use of chemicals and pesticides. Nearly a billion people celebrates Raksha Bandhan every year with fancy artificial rakhis which are not sustainable, non recyclable and have no further use. The organic cotton sector is on the path to a big market shift. For the pace to accelerate and the sector to thrive, we need to continue working together on constructive and actionable solutions that will shape the sector.
